The Rules for
The Joe Invitational
Draft Rules: The top half of the field will be given 15 seconds to submit three player names from the lower half players - in their preferred order. If your player is available in the draft, you will get them, if not, you will have to choose from the remaining players after everyone else drafts. The final "A" player to draft will be given the benefit of choosing which tee time they prefer the following weekend.
Rules: The courses will be played down through the green. Please remove your ball from distressed areas including limited grass but ask your playing competitor before moving. Also, local rule regarding “non-maintained areas” will NOT be in effect. Play a provisional if you think you have a lost ball. (USGA Rule 18.2b) Gimmies will be given on ALL putts inside the leather (I.E. 18”, no more or less,) regardless of stroke or difficulty - for pace of play.
Formats: - All play will be from the Rust Tees both Days -
Saturday - 9 Holes Better Ball will start on the Legend. Record the team’s best score. Followed by 9 Holes of Shamble. For the Shamble format each team member must use four (4) drives, leaving only one wildcard hole. Play from chosen drive and record total of both scores. (Par 3’s will be 6’s, Par 4’s will be 8’s, etc.) Use LEFT green on Hole #3 and the LEFT tees on Hole #4.
Sunday - 9 Holes played as Better Ball on the Challenge. Followed by 9 Holes of Alternate Shot. You may choose who tees off #10 but must alternate who tees off the following holes no matter who putts out the previous hole. (Player "A" tees off on 10, Player "B" must tee off on 11.)
Handicaps: Indexes have determined “A” Players and “B” Players. Because this is a blind order draft, any of the “A” players will may choose a partner from the higher “B” as one of their three “preferred” choices. But this does not guarantee a pairing if your choice is the last pulled. This year handicaps were determined by Mondays’ index posted August 3.
Payouts: The overall winning team will be awarded $300 with runner-up $250 and split with all teams that tie.
Each 9 holes will pay $100 for 1st place, $50 2nd place teams and split ties. Each 18 holes will have a Skins pool of $200 to be divided by the number of skins. $50 will be paid to each team for each KP’s on the Nine (9) par 3’s.
Eligibility: All invitations were based on participants having an active USGA GHIN of 9.9 or less as of July 1st. While no strokes are given in competition this creates a level field for splitting the group into a high and low halves.
Buy-in is $100 per player.
